The Book of Riley Part 2 A Zombie Tale (Audible Audio Edition) Mark Tufo Sean Runnette Tantor Audio Books
Homeward Bound crossed with the zombie apocalpse. Riley (the dog) leads another dog, a cat, their girl (human), and her baby brother through a land where the dead walk and humans are sometimes even worse. This is part 2 of a 4 part serial. The group have escaped their home and started on their journey to find some old friends. They hope to find some help in Las Vegas but find out it has been taken over by a group of sadistic thugs.
The story is still going strong even when using common zombie story tropes. The interactions between the animals really make this story worthwhile.

The Book of Riley Part 2 A Zombie Tale (Audible Audio Edition) Mark Tufo Sean Runnette Tantor Audio Books Reviews
This book is written not in first person, but first dog. LOL! Ben-Ben is a great character! "Nobody messes with Santa!". Yes, Ben-Ben's concept of zombie reality is a bit different. But he has a big heart in a small body. You know you're safe in the zombie apocalypse when you have Riley & Ben-Ben & Patches by your side!
I love this book and this series, it is my latest guilty pleasure. Riley is a GOOD DOG!! She fights for her family, both human and animal. Her companions are various mixes of true blue, self interested, brilliant, and stupid. The dead are chomping away and staggering around; the other living are an uncertain resource/danger; the action keeps up; Riley veers between being the meanest critter around, feeling guilty, and saving her pack; Ben Ben is yapping, peeing, then doing good; Patches is snide, aloof and true blue deep down; Jessie is capable and worthy of Riley's devotion; and the baby is talking to the animals. What's not to love?
Riley 2 picked right up where the first one left off. I read this book in a little as 2 hrs. It was a great book. If you are a animal lover or not, then this book is for you. The only problem I have with it, I wish it could havebeen longer. Still at the price I paid, it was well worth it! I'm just wanting any book by Mark Tufo!! All his books are well written and easy to get into. Pick up a book of his and you will see for yourself. You will be hooked just like I am. Bravo Mark another book well done!!
The Riley books so far have been my favorite from Mark. I really like how he makes them so realistic. So much so I find myself looking at my own pets and thinking about this book. This one is a little harder to read for those who don't like to see animals suffer. The 1st one was better but this one also is pretty good.
I immediately became entangled with Riley, Ben-Ben and Patches (evil gatekeeper of hell) along with Jess and Zach in the first part of Riley. This continues right where book one leaves us with the group... getting the hell out of Dodge. I enjoy all of Mark's series and Riley isn't any different. She takes us through hell (and I did cry at one point) and back, gritting my teeth as I read her story as I imagined Riley was also gritting her teeth. Obviously, Mark having a couple English Bulldogs helps him get in the "dog's mind" when writing this series and imagines all types of conversations going on between the pets of the household (we all do that own pets). I (patiently, as always) wait for the next book in this series. Part 2 will have you on the edge of your seat, hugging your pets and hoping the ZA never happens - especially not with Riley around.
Mark Tufo is an amazing writer!!! I loved reading this from Riley's point of view! This is a new take on the zombie tales!!! Riley's interaction with the other animals and characters in the story is so complex, you tend to jump from hating one character to the next and then loving them all because of the way they take care of each other. Ben Ben is just such a funny little dog, you'd think he would learn, but his ability to just love makes him one of my favorite characters in this story.
The second installment of Riley, an American bulldog, Patches the cat and yippie yorkie Ben-Ben continue as she continues to lead her new pack through a world that no longer has any semblance of what we knew. Riley must once again face danger, perceiver and get Jessie on track when they reach Las Vegas...and trust me, it was never meant for the young and innocent, it is far less welcoming now. Riley is forced to fight for her life to reach Jessie whom she has been separated from. Patches is still looking out for only herself and as usually that means helping Riley get back on track if that means saving herself. Ben-Ben is..well Ben-Ben although he will surprise everyone this time. I gave it 4 stars because Jessie seems far too innocent and almost refusing to face what is happening before her eyes relying on everyone else around her to help her. The helpless femme fatale is getting old but then again, she is young and still has to think about her baby brother who is suddenly more than he seems....hmmm Mark Tufo likes to do that to us and it works very well...can't wait for the next one....
